“Levitating Again: Dua Lipa Faces Another Legal Battle”

Dua Lipa is currently dealing with another lawsuit regarding her hit song, Levitating. This time, musician Bosko Kante filed a multimillion-dollar copyright claim in Los Angeles, accusing the singer and Warner Music Group of using his talk box recording without permission in remixes of the single. Levitating is the most successful track from Dua Lipa’s 2020 album, Future Nostalgia.

Wow, the disco beat is so catchy, it can be heard from artists like Barbie to Kylie. The lawsuit states that Kante and the song creators had a verbal agreement that his talk box recording could only be used in the original recording and not in any remixes. Kante is seeking over $20 million for copyright infringement on multiple remixes, including the popular one with The Blessed Madonna, featuring DaBaby and performed by Lipa at the American Music Awards. Kante’s lawyers claimed that they tried to resolve the issue without going to court, but the defendants refused to cooperate or take responsibility for using Kante’s work without permission. The lawsuit alleges that all three remixes used more of Kante’s work than the original version, and the defendants did not seek authorization to do so. Representatives for the singer have not yet commented on the matter.
