When we decide to adopt a pet, we are making a lifelong commitment. Unfortunately, not all dog owners seem to understand this fact. Some may even neglect or abandon their pets when they become too much of a burden. One heartbreaking example of this is a dog who was left to die alone in the mud after his owner felt he was no longer worthy of a home. Despite being seriously injured and going blind, this loyal pup never lost his love for his owner. But when he was finally discovered, he was severely weakened from starvation and dehydration. He had been left to fend for himself without shelter or food, and he had accepted that his life was over. It’s a sad reminder that pets rely on us to provide them with the care and love they need, and we must take that responsibility seriously.
Good news! They were able to rescue the dog just in time, and he was in such a weak state that they had to assist him into their vehicle. The next step was to take him to the vet for a check-up. Despite being scared, the young pup remained calm and trusting of his rescuers. He learned that his unfortunate fate could have been avoided if kind-hearted people like them had intervened earlier.
The veterinarian shared that the dog was extremely ill and malnourished, with anemia so severe that multiple blood transfusions were needed. The rescue team worked tirelessly to seek assistance, making calls and utilizing social media to find a temporary foster home. It was heartbreaking to see this brave pup suffering, and they were determined to provide him with the love and care he deserved in a comfortable, nurturing environment outside of the vet’s office.
The following day, the rescue team got a phone call from a delightful lady who had experience working with visually impaired animals. She offered to take in the dog and give him a secure and comfortable place to heal. The offer was a perfect fit. Once the furry friend received the green light from the veterinarian, he was introduced to his new foster parent, and they hit it off right away – love at first sniff!
The dog, who had come to terms with his own mortality, is now thriving. In fact, his foster mom has become a “foster failure” because she cannot imagine a better home for him. This charming young pup wins over everyone he meets, despite his blindness. We are delighted that he has found his forever home and his happily ever after.
