Katy Perry created buzz for the latest episode of American Idol by sharing a couple of photos on her Instagram account. In the caption, she playfully referred to herself as ‘Jane of the Jungle.’ Perry joined the show as a judge during the sixteenth season in 2018. American Idol originally started in 2002 and ran for fifteen seasons until 2015. She shares the judging panel with Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, who came on board when the show was revamped. Ryan Seacrest continues to host the series from its premiere. Perry faced some controversy recently for her treatment of contestant Sara Beth Liebe, leading to her departure from the ongoing 21st season. The singer, who was criticized for being a young mother, decided to leave the program as a result.

Joining in: Perry made her debut as a judge on the sixteenth season of American Idol back in 2018, and now in 2022, she can be spotted alongside Richie and Bryan on the show.
Caught in a dilemma: Perry stirred up some drama when her treatment of Sara Beth Liebe, a former contestant on the show’s current 21st season, came under fire recently in 2021.
In an interview with Billboard, the artist behind Dark Horse discussed her experience working on the show. She emphasized that contestants don’t necessarily need to win to benefit from the experience. “I believe that this show is more about guidance and momentum… even if you place well – in the top 10, in the top 20 – just keep pushing and use this platform to launch your career,” she explained. Perry also pointed out that contestants shouldn’t expect a smooth and easy path after the show ends. “Only one person wins in the end, so be prepared for the reality check. That’s just how the industry works,” she added.
Getting noticed is important: The singer of the hit “Dark Horse” shared about her experience on the show in a chat with Billboard. She mentioned that winning wasn’t the only way to gain from the exposure, and there’s a photo of her with Richie and Bryan from 2021.
