Professional footballer Lionel Messi, who plays in the Premier League, recently flew in a private jet from the national team’s headquarters to his hometown of Rosario. He made the trip to visit his mother, as it was Mother’s Day in Argentina.
As reported by Infobae, Lionel Messi trained with the entire team at the Ezeiza headquarters on the morning of October 15th before requesting permission from coach Scaloni to fly to his hometown of Rosario in the Santa Fe province, a journey of over two hours. He wanted to visit his mother, Celia, to celebrate Mother’s Day with her. Messi then took a private plane to Rosario, where he spent a few hours with his family before returning.
Journalist Mauro Yasprizza shared some photos of Messi at the airport upon landing at 1 p.m. Although Messi regularly meets his mother in Miami, where he currently resides and plays, being with her on this special day held great significance for him, according to Infobae.
Born into a family of four siblings, Lionel Messi, who recently won the 2022 World Cup, is the third child. His eldest brother, Rodrigo, has achieved success as a self-made millionaire, while his second brother, Matias, has faced legal troubles in the past. His younger sister, Maria, is a fashion designer, and his father also serves as Messi’s representative. Despite his introverted nature, the 36-year-old superstar remains deeply connected to his family.
Prior to reuniting with his mother, Messi was spotted training with his teammates as usual. The return of Captain Messi is seen as a positive development for Argentina. The 36-year-old forward had been dealing with physical issues, forcing him to leave the field early during the match against Ecuador on September 8. Subsequently, he had to miss several matches for both Argentina and Inter Miami for over two weeks.
As per the schedule, coach Scaloni is set to hold a press briefing this afternoon before departing with the entire squad to Lima, Peru, at 4:00 p.m. The Argentine players are expected to land in Peru at 8:00 p.m. to start preparations for the upcoming match against the host team in the fourth game of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on October 18. Argentina has emerged victorious in all three previous matches, securing the top spot in the standings.
