In June, Twinkle was found alone on the streets of Miami and was taken in by True and Faithful Pet Rescue Mission. Despite being thin and having bad teeth, Twinkle was given the love and attention she needed from the rescue organization. After spending time recovering from surgery at the vet’s office, she started to gain weight and transformed into a lovely dog. Lisa Letson, the president and founder of True and Faithful Pet Rescue Mission, shared that Twinkle was adopted in early September by a lovely family who seemed perfect for her.
During the Christmas season, the rescue center received an email from the family who recently adopted Twinkle indicating their intention to return her after only four months. According to the family, Twinkle cried all night because she wanted to sleep on the bed with them, but they already had older Chihuahuas that refused to sleep on the bed, and so they assumed that Twinkle was not a good match for them and decided to return her to the rescue.
According to Madison Mulvihill, the social media coordinator of True and Faithful Pet Rescue, Twinkle was devastated and confused. When Mulvihill walked into the dog room, she found Twinkle sitting in a corner on a dog bed, isolated and trembling with fear. The poor dog looked at Mulvihill with a mix of confusion and sadness. On her return to the shelter, Twinkle’s owners simply handed her over the fence and left her behind. She kept looking back at the fence, leaving the shelter team puzzled as to why someone would abandon her like this.
Twinkle longed to snuggle with her loved ones for the night, but sadly it was not possible. This made her feel devastated. At the rescue center, everyone was saddened by her situation. Twinkle had captured their hearts since the moment they met her, and they couldn’t understand why anyone would want to give up this precious soul.
Mulvihill expressed that Twinkle is beyond adorable and possesses an exceptional personality, despite her small size of only three and a half pounds. She enjoys being the center of attention and will approach anyone she wants to impress. Her movements are graceful and charming, especially when she hops around on the grass at the ranch. Twinkle has a soft spot for cuddles and loves to be close to her human companions. Furthermore, she is well-behaved when walking on a leash and gets along with other dogs. If she desires some scratches, she will not hesitate to paw at your hand.
When Twinkle returned to the rescue, her friends shared a TikTok video about her experience in the hopes of finding someone who could relate. The internet fell in love with her, and as a result, the rescue received many inquiries about adopting her. Finally, Twinkle has found her forever home with a family that has six other dogs and a king-sized bed where she can sleep comfortably at night. As a senior dog, Twinkle just wants to be loved and give love in return. Her new family will provide her with the genuine love she deserves for the rest of her life.
